Spotlight: Eric Haywood
ERIC HAYWOOD BIO
Writer/Director
Milwaukee, Wisconsin-born Eric Haywood is a television writer living and working in Los Angeles, California. He began his career as a music video director while earning a degree in filmmaking from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. After relocating to Los Angeles, Eric landed writing jobs on such TV shows as Showtime’s Soul Food: The Series and NBC’s Hawaii. He participated in the Guy Hanks and Marvin Miller Screenwriting Program and has written and directed three short films: Staring at the Sun, Intersection, and Nick of Time. Most recently, Eric wrote the Hallmark Channel Original Movie Relative Stranger, starring Eriq LaSalle and directed by Charles Burnett. After premiering in the spring of 2009, the film garnered a Best Supporting Actress Emmy nomination for Cicely Tyson.
